This year I decided to visit the „Berliner Fahrrad Schau“ on short term. Because I only had one day to head off, the trip started from Wittenberg. That would leave 120km of riding for the day wich meant I still had to go at a fast pace to arrive before dusk.
So I got off the train at 10am, drove through the city center and took the B2 towards Potsdam. The first 40km I rode partly on the road and partly on seperate bikelanes with quite heavy traffic. It just was Brandenburg from his ‘bright’ side.
At Beelitz I changed over to a part of the R1 Euroroute from where it finally got really nice. After the first bend into the woods two deers instantly jumped off the path as I got closer. I followed the route through the tranquil forest to Ferch where I made a luchstop at the „Haus am See“.
After the break I hit the road again and cycled along the Havel to Potsdam where I saw some stunning mosaics at the walls of the Datacenter Potsdam. The whole piece is called „Der Mensch bezwingt den Kosmos“ and because the building is going to be demolished there is a debate about the preservation of the historic glass-mosaics.
The last part led through the Düppelner Forst and the vast Grunewald along the Wannsee strait to Berlin Tiergarten.
